Jezera the place of fishermen, sailsmen, divers, tourist workers and caterers is located on the southeastern side of the island of Murter. The island is interesting because of its closeness to the land and it is connected by a 30 meter bridge.
The place has about 1000 inhabitants. Jezera is in a gulf (the shape of horseshoe), that is surounded by tame hills. Because of its natural position, Jezera is not exposed to strong gusts of wind, so its bay is an ideal place for boats. Jezera has been inhabited since the ancient days. The name of the place comes from two waters. One is located in the beginning of the town (Lokva), and the other is in the nearby field (Blato).
Churches are the most prominent stone constructions in the town, out of which the Lady of Health parish church from 1722 is the largest. n the Jezera bay of Lovišća is the tourist resort “Jezera-Lovišća” with an autocanp. It has received numerous awards for its complete tourist services out of which is the German tuoperater ADAC and the charter of the Croatian Musical Union for high quality cultural and entertainment programs.There are four smaller car camps in Jezera, “More” and “Levantara” in Jezera Bay and “Stella Maris” and “Golden Haven” in Podjasenovac Bay, and in private accommodation Jezerani offers rooms and apartments of high category. The harbor offers numerous catering and touristic buildings.
The ACI marina in Jezera, with the capacity of 220 berths, has a gas station, crane, ANA nautic acadamy, and charters (Alternautika, AYC, SAY MILLENIUM).
The Sport fishing society “Punta rata”, where you can get the permits needed for sport fishing, are the initiators and co-organizers for Big Game Fishing, an international sports event under the sponsership of the President of Croatia and is held at the end September.
The cultural heritage of Jezera is preserved by Cultural Artist Society “Koledišće” that by costums, song, and dance has been presenting their region through Croatia and abroad and have received numerous rewards and merits for it.
The cultural-entertainment-sport contents under the name of “Jezerski dani mora” last from the middle of July to the end of September where along with the traditional events, domestic specialties are offered.
In the competition of the Croatian Tourist Board, the “Plavi cvijet”, Jezera came in second for the best tourist destination in 2002, 2003, and 2005, and first in 2004.
Jezera is the leading place in the tourist offer of the Šibenik-Knin county. The fact the approximatly 3000 guests are enjoying the preserved natural environment during the high season. tells it all.
The lakes are in 2011. was given first Award in the category of creative and innovative tourism project or product, which is awarded “Network” of innovation and creativity RH.
Lake waterfront 2011th year was named “the most RIVA” ballot readers and editorial boards Free Dalmatia.
