WELCOME TO THE OLDEST SPA IN CROATIA! Varaždinske Toplice (Spa) with its 2000 inhabitants, are situated on the North East end of Hrvatsko Zagorje. The heart of the city is located on the terraces along the south declivity of Toplièka gora and comes down to the valley of the river Bednja. The natural gift – a rich spring of thermal water, with a temperature of 58oC – gave the city its position, its name and the continuity of life and treatment throughout its cultural epoch. In the III. century B.C. inhabitants of this Spa were given a name – the Pannonian Jasi. The Romans later named this city Aquae Lasea. This modern health center has been working since 1820, and in the beginning of the 20th century the Spa became one of the more respected central European health centers. Varaždinske Toplice offer you an ecological environment and relaxing peace. Valuable cultural-historical monuments are Roman diggings, antic emossment Nimph from the 2nd century, Minerva Medica, Roemer’s baroque organ, Old city, the St. Martin church, Konstatinov’s home, park of nature, village house from 1801 (ethnographic collection), a monument celebrating the Croatian language and others.
